ISLAMABAD: Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood has rejected any change to delay the phase-wise reopening of schools as earlier stated by Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani.
According to the Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, the phase-wise reopening of schools will continue as planned across the country while a meeting will be held on September 22nd to discuss the situation.
This announcement from the Federal Education Minister comes just hours after Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani said that the reopening of schools in the second phase was being delayed in the province by one week over violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

However, according to Shafqat Mahmood, the timetable for the reopening remains unchanged as the decision was taken unanimously in meeting of education minister earlier this month.
Shafqat Mahmood stated, “Before taking the decision to postpone the second phase, Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani should have taken us into confidence on the matter,” but the decision was taken without any consultation in the matter.
Earlier, the Sindh Education Minister announced that reopening of schools in the second phase (classes 6 to 8) was being delayed by week one to ensure proper implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) at educational institutions.
Saeed Ghani also mentioned coronavirus test results of more than 14,544 school staff member came back out of which the positive cases stand at 2.4 percent.
