Shortly after the arrest of Shahbaz Sharif, his niece Maryam Nawaz took to Twitter stating, “Make no mistake. Shehbaz Sharif has been arrested ONLY because he REFUSED to play in the hands of those who wanted to use him against his brother. He preferred standing behind prison bars than to stand against his brother. Shahbaz Sharif, aap ko SALAM!”
She further criticized the justice system in the country stating, “If there was accountability and justice in this country, not Shahbaz Sharif, Asim Saleem Bajwa and his family would have been arrested.”
Maryam Nawaz continued in her series of Tweets saying, “Shahbaz Sharif’s only fault is that he did not leave Nawaz Sharif’s side. He preferred to go to jail but stood by his brother. This retaliatory accountability cannot discourage Nawaz Sharif and his associates. The time is not far when the people will be held accountable for this government and those who brought it.”
Finally the PML-N leader said that arresting Shahbaz Sharif will not let anyone save their “false and fake mandate” stating, “Whatever decisions are taken by the PML-N delegation led by Shahbaz Sharif in the APC, every PML-N worker will remain steadfast on these promises.”
PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Auranzeb also criticized Prime Minister Imran Khan and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and alleged that the arrest was carried out on the premier’s behest.
