PESHAWAR: Eight suspects have been arrested in the Zainab rape and murder case in Charsadda after the body of the two-year-old girl was found mutilated in fields of Peshawar.
According to the district police officer (DPO), investigation is underway and DNA samples from Zainab have been sent to the forensic laboratory for analysis and results are awaited.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered under clauses of kidnapping and murder while a special team has been constituted under Superintendent of Police (SP) Darwesh Khan to probe the matter.
Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan has taken notice of the incident in Charsadda and ordered the inspector general of police to arrest the culprit as soon as possible while promising that exemplary punishment will be given to those involved.
Two-year-old Zainab was found raped and murdered a day after she was kidnapped from her home town of Charsadda in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 6th October.
The body of the minor girl was found mutilated with her chest and abdomen cut open with a sharp object apart while initial medical report confirmed that the Zainab was also sexually abused.
