FAISALABAD: In a significant development, the prime suspected in the Lahore motorway gang rape case, Abid Ali has been arrested by police from Faisalabad.
According to police, the prime suspect in the Lahore motorway gang rape case, Abid Ali has been arrested in Faisalabad and will be shifted to Lahore.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) for Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill confirmed the arrest on Twitter stating, “Abid Malhi has been arrested. Inshallah, he will be punished according to the law.“
According to police, the DNA of Abid Ali had matched the Lahore motorway gang-rape victim three times but one more test will be conducted after collecting sample from the suspect directly.
Abid Ali was already present in the lab’s DNA database after after being booked for raping a mother and her daughter in 2013 but unfortunately, the suspect was released on bail at the time.
The other suspect involved in the motorway gang rape incident named Shafqat is already in jail on judicial remand which means both involved in the heinous crime are now in custody of law enforcement authorities.
Lahore motorway gang rape incident
A woman was gang raped on Lahore motorway in front of her children on Wednesday after her car broke down stranding her on the road.
According to sources, the woman called motorway police for help but was denied assistance due to jurisdiction issues after which she was spotted by the assailants who attacked her car.
The culprits forced the woman along with her children out of the car and took them to a nearby field where they gang raped the woman and then robbed her of all valuables immediately fleeing the scene.
