ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and TikTok officials are in discussion to unban the app in Pakistan after a virtual meeting held on Monday.
According to a notification issued by the telecom regulator, the TikTok management and PTA discussed moderating of unlawful content in accordance with laws of Pakistan.
TikTok officials highlighted the efforts already made by the social media app apart from discussing future plans in terms of moderating indecent and vulgar content in Pakistan.
Furthermore, both sides are apparently working together to to provide a safe internet environment to users in pakistan.
TikTok banned in Pakistan
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) banned TikTok in Pakistan on 9th October stating that the regulator had received numerous complaints regarding immoral and indecent content on the application.
According to the regulator, multiple notices were issued to TikTok but the application failed Since the application failed to comply with the instructions and filter out the vulgar content and put in place an effective moderation mechanism.
