People have some hilarious reactions to the announcement of a Pakistani Netflix variant that will be launched by Ministry of Science and Technology according to Fawad Chaudhry.
According to the federal minister, the Science and Technology Ministry is all set to launch a Pakistani Netflix which will be the country’s first ever OTT TV service.

However, the content on the online platform will be regulated by the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) which some people think might not be the best decision for the upcoming service.
These concerns are understandable considering PEMRA has very strict guidelines of what is considered immoral or indecent and the content available on the platform might not be what people actually want to see.
Here are some of the reactions, including one from Pakistani actor Osman Khalid Butt:
There’s a group of people worried that the introduction of a Pakistani Netflix variant might mean a complete ban on the original streaming service in Pakistan as the regulator may force the public to switch to the local platform.
Some people even pointed out the need to bring already popular platform to Pakistan instead of wasting time and money on developing our own variants.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier it was announced that Pakistan is developing its own payment gateway similar to PayPal which will be introduced very soon.
However, the government fails to grasp that our own payment gateway is simply useless and pointless for freelancers as international clients will not move to a Pakistani system for our convenience.
Right now all we can do is wait for the Pakistani Netflix variant to be launched and actually see what type of content is being allowed on the platform or was it even worth it.
