ISLAMABAD: Raoof Hasan has been appointed as Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information on an honorary capacity with immediate effect according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.
The position was previously filled by Lt General (r) Asim Saleem Bajwa who tendered in his resignation after the controversy regarding the assets held him aboard.
He also tweeted about stepping down from his role as SAPM on Information saying, “I requested the honourable Prime Minister to relinquish me from the additional portfolio of SAPM on Info & broadcasting. He very kindly approved my request.”
However, this was the second time he submitted his resignation as it was once rejected by Prime Minister Imran who was satisfied with the explanation provided by the retired army officer about his personal finances.
