AUSTRIA: Several people have reportedly been injured as a result of a shooting in Vienna on Monday in what was described as a “terror attack” by interior Karl Nehammer.
“At the moment I can confirm we believe this is an apparent terror attack,” the interior minister told a local media outlet.
The incident took place near a synagogue but the exact circumstances of the incident were still being determined by police officials.
Jewish community leader Oskar Deutsch tweeted that it was unclear if the Vienna synagogue was the target of the attack as it was closed at the time.
In a tweet, the Vienna police department informed of the shooting incident while warning citizens to stay clear of the area and not share any videos on social media.
Furthermore, the interior minister confirmed that one attacker had been arrested while another was shot dead by police.
The injured have been shifted to hospitals but the exact target of the Vienna shooting incident still remains unclear and authorities are investigating the matter.
