Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that Gilgit Baltistan election (GB Election 2020) has been stolen and rejected the projected results according to which, the party was able to bag three seats.
According to Bilawal Bhutto, the election rules were violated while the GB Chief Election Commissioner was favoring the PTI government. “Our candidate lost by two votes. They are trying to steal three seats but we will not let them.” said PPP chairman.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also participated in the protest against the rigged election in front of the returning officer’s office in the region.
“My election has been stolen. I will be joining the people of Gilgit-Baltistan in their protest shortly.” said the party chairman on Twitter.
The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have emerged victorious in the Gilgit Baltistan Election (GB Election 2020) according to the projected unofficial results securing at least 11 seats.
Meanwhile, PML-N, JUI-F and MWN also managed to secure one seat each along with independent candidates bagging six seats in total according to the unofficial and unconfirmed results.
On the other hand, PPP senator Sherry Rehman saying that election observers are not being allowed to monitor the counting of votes and even claimed that some people who came to cast their votes came to know that their votes had already been cast through postal ballots.
“There were more than 600 members of the Free and Fair Election Network (Fafen) monitoring the elections, but some have been removed from the polling stations,” she said.
Sherry Rehman urged the Election Commission to take strict action and allow observers to monitor the count of votes.
