Warren Wilson College if offering up to 25 Milepost One Scholarships which will cover full tuition fee. The grant will also give an opportunity to international and DACA students.
The Milepost One scholarship offered by Warren Wilson college is for the undergraduate degree levels which will cover a full tuition fee of $35,000.00. The scholarship and application deadline is February 1, 2021.

Eligibility & Requirements
Warren Wilson will award up to 25 full-tuition Milepost One scholarships to students with total family income levels equal to or below $125,000 per year. This means that even families who may not be eligible for federal or state need-based grants still have an opportunity to earn a full tuition scholarship – this includes eligibility for international and DACA students.
All Milepost One winners will be awarded our unique work grant, which will be applied towards tuition per federal guidelines. Milepost One winners who qualify for a federal or state need-based grant will receive the remainder of their tuition free through the Warren Wilson College Milepost One scholarship. Milepost One winners who do not qualify for a federal or state need-based grant will receive the remainder of their tuition free through the Milepost One scholarship. Student loans will not be applied towards the cost of tuition but may be applied towards room and board.
Requirements
To be eligible, students must:
- Be admitted to Warren Wilson College for the first-time, as a full-time undergraduate starting during a Fall term;
- Have a minimum 3.0 weighted GPA;
- Complete the application requirements by the deadline;
- Have a Total Family Income* equal to or less than $125,000;
- Live on campus and participate in the Warren Wilson Work Program;
- File a 2021-2022 FAFSA using their 2019 taxes and send to Warren Wilson College by February 1, 2021 (school code: 002979);
- International Students must complete the CollegeBoard International Student Financial Aid Application;
- Students selected for FAFSA verification must complete verification requirements by March 1, 2021 (please note your award will not reflect your Milepost One award until you fully complete the verification process);
- Be enrolled full time;
- Maintain consecutive enrollment;
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5.
The Milepost One Scholarship is guaranteed for up to 4 years. If you do not complete your degree in four years, you may appeal to extend your Milepost One Scholarship eligibility.
*For the purposes of Milepost One Scholarship eligibility, Total Family Income is defined by using the AGI (adjusted gross income) from 2019 federal tax returns (both student and parent), which is used on the student’s 2021-2022 FAFSA. Students who have a combined student and parent AGI equal to or less than $125,000 are eligible to apply.
Application Process
Before you apply for Milepost One, you need to submit your admission application.
Deadline to Apply for Fall 2021: February 1, 2021
Selection Process: Following the February 1 deadline, a Milepost One selection committee will review all submissions, analyzing the overall impact of each essay submission.The Selection Committee will have access to each scholarship applicant’s application for admission and FAFSA. Students will be asked to sign a consent form to allow the selection committee to review FAFSA information.
Renewal Requirements
- File a renewal FAFSA each year before February 1st;
- Complete verification process (if selected) each year before February 1st;
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress;
- Be a residential (on-campus) student;
- Be enrolled full time;
- Maintain consecutive enrollment.
If students chose to study away during their career at WWC, Milepost One is subject to the same conditions as other institutional aid depending on the study away program
If a student no longer meets the criteria for this plan, we will evaluate your eligibility based on the current renewal policy for returning students for that particular year.
Not Eligible for Milepost One?
Don’t worry! All admitted students are considered for Merit Scholarships, which can be as high as $21,000 per year. Combined with your Work Grant and other need-based aid, we’re committed to making Warren Wilson an affordable option.

Am I International?
If you are a non-U.S. citizen or permanent resident living outside of the United States, or a non-U.S citizen/permanent resident living in the United States on a temporary visa, you will be considered an international applicant.
- U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents living or studying abroad: your global experience is a valuable part of your narrative and will be given consideration in the evaluation of your application. Please refer to and utilize the requirements and deadlines for domestic first year applications.

Visa, Passport and Travel
If admitted, you will be required to submit the following before an I-20 will be issued:
- $300 non-refundable Enrollment Deposit (applied to your first semester bill)
- Color copy of you bio page in passport (must be valid 6 months into future)
- Warren Wilson Financial Guarantee Form (form will be sent via email)

Information on Student Visas
Before leaving your home country, you must obtain a passport from your government and a visa from the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. If you are academically and financially accepted, you will be sent a letter of admission and an I-20. With this you may obtain a student visa (F1) for entry into the United States. The I-20 will be sent to you when we receive your enrollment deposit.
To meet U.S. Government regulations as a full-time, undergraduate student on the F-1 or J-1 visas, you must enroll for a minimum of 12 semester hours each semester enrolled. Applicants should check restrictions about off-campus work and length of stay on a student visa.

Arrival Information
When coming to Warren Wilson, students may fly to the Asheville Regional Airport, a full-service airport with excellent connections to international airports such as Atlanta, GA and Charlotte, NC.
F-1 and J-1 visa students will be required to participate in an International Student Orientation before new student orientation for the Fall or Spring.

Our English Proficiency Policy
A satisfactory proficiency of the English language is required for admission to Warren Wilson College and is required for all students whose native language is not English.
Valid Proof of English Language Proficiency
The following criteria represent different ways to prove English proficiency:
- Achieving the minimum required official score on ONE of the following:
- International Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL: 79
- International English Language Testing System IELTS: 6.5
- GTEC: 1180
- PTE Academic (Pearson): 53
- Completion of three consecutive years, and graduation from an accredited school where English is the language of instruction.
- Completion of an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, doctorate, or professional degree at an accredited college or university where English is the language of instruction.
- Obtaining minimum scores on SAT Verbal section of 450 or better or ACT Reading of 18 or better.
- Obtaining an official score of 4 or higher on either the International Baccalaureate(IB) Higher Level Language A examination in English, or the College Board Advanced Placement Program (AP) examination in English Language
- Being selected by one of our approved exchange program partners to attend Warren Wilson College through an approved exchange relationship
*Test scores are valid for two years after the test date but are still considered valid if the score exceeded the minimum requirement and the applicant has maintained continuous residency in the United States since the exam date

International Student Scholarships & Financial Aid
Warren Wilson College is pleased to offer several scholarships to our international students.
International Student Merit Scholarships
- International Student Scholarship $5,000-10,000 USD
- All international applicants are offered scholarships based on their GPA. No additional application is necessary.
- Milepost One Scholarship: International students are eligible to apply and be considered for our new Milepost One Scholarship. Please note this requires an additional application and students who intend to apply for this MUST apply before or at the time of their admission application. Work Program Earnings
- WWC Work Grant: $2,176 USD. Every residential student at Warren Wilson works at least 10 hours per week on one of several on-campus work crews. Your earnings go to help pay your tuition costs. (This means you’ll be applying for a social security number to be legally employed.)
