Pakistan’s former prime minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali passed away in Rawalpindi at the age of 76, his niece Senator Sana Jamali confirmed on Wednesday.
According to the details, the former prime minister was shifted to the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) in Rawalpindi after suffering a heart attack last week.
Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali was seriously ill for the past few days and had been put on a ventilator in the Critical Care Unit at the hospital according to his neice.
Jamali had served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan during the military reign of General Pervez Musharraf, making him the first person from Balochistan to be elected to the position.
However, he was later asked to resign in 2004 and was replaced by Shaukat Aziz.
Condolences
“Saddened to hear of the passing of Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali. My condolences and prayers go to his family.” tweeted Prime Minister Imran Khan.
COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa also expressed his condolences on the passing of Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.
