The Government is planning to hold a National E-Sports Tournament in March 2021 through private sponsorships according to Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry in an interview with social media personality Waqar Zakar.
According to the federal minister, a National E-Sports Tournament in Pakistan will provide a much needed boost to the ‘Gaming Industry’ in Pakistan.
The minister added that such an initiative will also provide opportunities to young adults who want to pursue gaming as a career and allow them to become part of the high earning industry.
“The gaming industry is worth $90 billion dollars and there is already a 20 percent growth per annum in Pakistan” the federal minister told Waqar Zaka.
“The companies working in Pakistan tell me that they have a number of vacancies, but not enough qualified people to fill these positions. Therefore, we are designing a course in collaboration with these companies and launching a certification program with the help of universities.” added Fawad Chaudhry.
The certification program will be rolled out in two phases. In the first phase, graduates will be provided with the appropriate training and then the program will be extended to 12-graders according to the federal minister.
