ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has reported 89 coronavirus deaths across the country during the last 24 hours while the national tally of fatalities from the infection has reached 8,487 according to the data provided by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC).
It is pertinent to mention that this was the highest single-day coronavirus death toll reported in 5 months as Pakistan continues to struggle with the second wave of infections.
The country also reported 2,885 new infections during the last 24 hours, taking the national tally of cases across the country to 423,179 with 2,486 patients in critical condition.
However, it is should be mentioned here that 13,932 patients also recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 370,474.

The National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) has instructed provincial authorities to ensure strict implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to get a handle on the second wave of coronavirus and curb the number of rising infections across the country.
