Rawalpindi: Journalist Ali Salman Alvi is apparently set free on bail not only that but the court has given him the custody of his daughter. Ali Salman was arrested by Rawalpindi police on the charges of murder of his wife Sadaf Zahra Naqvi on July 29-6-2020.
Ali Salman Alvi is back on Twitter and informed on December 9, 2020, of the court decision. He tweeted ” My RABAB is back with me. The honorable court of additional session judge Rawalpindi allowed my Habeas Corpus petition against Mehwish & her husband today and handed over my daughter’s custody to me. PS: This is a personal update meant for my friends.”

Justice for Zahra
Following the death of Sadaf Zahra, social media was set ablaze by Justice For Zahra. Her husband Journalist Ali Salman Alvi was the main suspect and was accused of Sadaf’s murder by her sister Mahwish Zahra. Sadaf Zahra was a victim of domestic violence and suffered at the hands of her own husband.
Ali Salman Arrested
The Rawalpindi Police had confirmed the arrest of Ali Salman through a tweet on July 8, 2020. The police informed that a case was registered on 29-6-2020 against the accused, Alvi and that he was in police custody. The tweet also suggested Merit and Justice will be ensured.
Statement from victims’ sister Mahwish
An FIR was registered on June 29 under Section 302 by victims sister Mahwish. The first investigation report revealed that Mahwish Zahra accused the brother-in-law of the murder of her sister Sadaf. She also claimed that Ali Salman Alvi is now trying to coverup the murder as a suicide.
The FIR also revealed that the accused called at 2 pm and told her that Sadaf had done something to herself. Mahwish along with her husband and mother rushed to her sister’s place. The front door was opened by Ali Salman upon their arrival while all other door were locked.
They were taken to Sadaf’s room by Alvi and they found Zahra hanging by the ceiling fan with her neck tied with a bedsheet. A ladder was also found laying nearby.
Mahwish took her sister down and untied her and accused her brother-in-law for the murder of her sister.
Mahwish had also informed that her sister Sadaf was a victim of physical violence and was subject to torture several times over the years. They had warned him several times but he did not care.
Police Found a Suicide Note
The police also claimed to have found a suicide note left by Sadaf Zahra which narrated physical abuse. The note also said she was beaten by her husband before her tragic death. However, the netizens still blame Salman Alvi for the murder of his wife as his abusing behavior led her to take such a drastic step.
Sister claims it was not a suicide note
Sister Mahwish however said the note which was in police custody was not a suicide note. According to her the note did not had anything pointing towards taking her own life.
Mahwish also said when they arrived at her sister’s place Ali Salman was alone in the house with their one-year-old daughter. She also said before they arrived he had stolen all her jewelry and emptied her bags and also took her debit cards.
Reaction on Social Media after his release
Alvi who is accused of murdering his own wife is set free on bail by the court. He tweeted to announce it to his friends. Though some of his well wisher are happy with the news, there are others who are taken aback by his release and custody of toddler granted by the court.
