Netflix drops trailer for ‘The White Tiger’ starring Priyanka Chopra

The detailed trailer for Netflix’s most anticipated The White Tiger is finally dropped and with depiction of spine-chilling timeline, it already has the audience talking. Starring the Queen of Bollywood Priyanka Chopra as central lady, the forthcoming thriller promises to highlight class discrimination and social differences, however, with a totally twisted angle.

Working class oppression and injustice at the hands of the elites is common in every society. Nevertheless, the tables turn when a wrongly accused decides to retaliate mercilessly. Similarly, the approaching feature The White Tiger narrates the hard-hitting story of a young driver, who accomplishes big name and fame, and subsequently has some unfinished business with his former masters.

About The White Tiger

Adapted from the 2008’s novel of the same name by Aravind Adiga, the drama film The White Tiger has been directed and penned by Ramin Bahrani, acclaimed for Fahrenheit 451 and Man Push Cart.

As expected from the trailer, The White Tiger is a narration of Balram Halwai, a poor, quick-witted young man who happens to be a driver for well-off Indian-American couple Pinky and Ashok. Balram is often criticized and ill-treated for his low social status, mostly by the flushed echelons of society that has created a passion for wealth in young driver.

Moreover, as the story proceeds, the lives of the poor employee and his employers entangles, when the duo come across a brutal accident and runs. And, later, the poor driver is commanded to take the blame for the damage. Balram has had enough and couldn’t tolerate the injustice as he pledges on one thing, which is to strike back.

The official synopsis on Netflix reads,

“Society has trained Balram to be one thing — a servant — so he makes himself indispensable to his rich masters. But after a night of betrayal, he realizes the corrupt lengths they will go to trap him and save themselves. On the verge of losing everything, Balram rebels against a rigged and unequal system to rise up and become a new kind of master.”

Cast

The highly celebrated Priyana Chopra Jonas plays the central character of Pinky, a flushed wife of businessman Ashok. Talking about her character in The White Tiger, Priyanka commented, “She is in India with her husband, who is travelling for business. And then, life changes! Pinky madam is such a specific character, to play her unravelling in the story was such a joy. This is a story that needs to be told and it comes alive with its characters so compellingly in Ramin’s hands.”

In addition, alongside Priyanka, the approaching saga stars emerging talents Adarsh Gourav, Rajkummar Rao, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Vijay Maurya. The movie will hit the screens on 22^nd January 2021.
