PCB Awards 2020 Details Revealed

It’s finally the time to appreciate the cricket stars of Pakistan with PCB cricket awards for the year 2020. The day of honor, has been scheduled for the first month of 2021 and includes categories for all formats and squads, both men and women.

Pakistan houses an undying passion when it comes to the bat and ball combat. Owing to that, the lights of cricket, after being banished for an aching period, finally returned to the motherland in previous few years. And, when Pakistan was at its peak of achieving big name in cricket universe, the global pandemic arrived as an obstacle, which shook the whole world.

However, even a lethal disease couldn’t snatch the cricket spirit of the green shirts, as Pakistan had an illuminating time of both national and international cricket, even at this crucial time.

PCB was probably the only cricket board that announced a complete season on 4 September and, since 30 September, has successfully delivered 186 matches out of 259 to date. Other than domestic cricket, Pakistan nation team also had a busy year. The Shaheens toured England in summer, hosted Zimbabwe in Pakistan and presently combats New Zealand on their home grounds.

Moreover, as all matches were played under Covid19 restrictions, the players had to sacrifice a lot, including their families and friends, in order to be part of the playing squads. Nevertheless, thanks to the audacious players, cricket officials, audience and organizations, who sacrificed their comfort bubble and made this cricket enthusiasm a reality. Hence, these team green devotees deserve huge recognition and approbation for their heartfelt contributions and services to Pakistani cricket. And, Pakistani Cricket Board PCB is already onto it.

PCB Awards 2020

On 28th December, 2020 PCB unveiled the details for the most anticipated PCB awards 2020, to appreciate the star players for their performances and contributions throughout the year. The ceremony consists of a total of 11 awards, including eight player categories, for which the winners will be presented specially designed trophies during the home series against South Africa.

The eight player classes are:

Emerging men’s Cricketers of the Year
Emerging women’s Cricketers of the Year
Women’s Cricketer of the Year
Domestic Men’s Cricketer of the Year
Individual Performance of the Year
White-ball Cricketer of the Year
Test Cricketer of the Year
Most Valuable Cricketer of the Year

Additionally, other than the players’ awards, the PCB awards 2020 also names Spirit of Cricket, Umpire of the Year and Best Corporate Achievement of the Year awards.

As per the process, an independent jury comprising highly veteran and distinguished cricket personalities will discuss performances in 10 of the 11 categories during the 2020 calendar year (1 January to 31 December) and select winners for PCB awards 2020 in each category through a virtual meeting. The Umpire of the Year will be selected by the First XI head coaches and captains. The winners will be announced on 1 January 2021 on the PCB digital platforms.
