KARACHI: Three minor children were burned to death while three other family members sustained injured during a house fire at Kashmir Colony in Karachi early Tuesday.
According to the details, the fire broke out in a two story house located in Kashmir Colony of Karachi resulting in the death of three siblings aged between one and six years after a delay in the arrival of fire brigade at the scene.
The rescue officials said that the minor victims of the tragic incident were identified as one-year-old Umaima, five-year-old Sania, and six-year-old Hamza. The injured included their parents and another child.
UPDATE: The father has also reportedly succumbed to his injuries while under treatment at the hospital.
The dead bodies and the injured were shifted to the nearby hospital. The cause of the fire has not been determined yet according to the police.
Sindh labor and education minister Saeed Ghani visited the affected family and paid his condolences to the parents of the deceased minors.
According to the minister, the cause of the house fire may have been due to a gas leak as the family was preparing breakfast but the police suspect that a short circuit may have caused the blaze.
He said that the injured were being provided with quality treatment and also took notice of the delay in the arrival of fire fighters at the scene despite the fire brigade office being nearby the home.
