SHEIKHUPURA: A newly-wed bride was gang-raped by three armed assailants on the motorway bridge near Farooqabad in Sheikhupura District.
According to the details, the victim was travelling in a rickshaw with her family when three armed robbers stopped them near Farooqabad bridge in Sheikhupura District and gang-raped the girl in-front of her in-laws.
The robbers also snatched their mobile phones, cash and jewelry from the bride before fleeing the scene according to the police.
A First Information Report (FIR) of the robbery and gang-rape has been registered and police has managed to arrest four suspects while the matter is being investigated.
According to the details provided by police, the victim’s family was returning home three days after the wedding with the bride and groom when the incident occurred on the motorway bridge.
The Inspector-General of Punjab Police has taken notice of the incident and sought a report from the police officers while directing them to take stern action against the rapists.
