Top Mountain Crosspoint Motorcycle Museum Burns Down

A fire broke out at the Top Mountain Crosspoint motorcycle museum located in Austria on Monday, destroying over 200 historic motorcycles that on display at the museum.

This was one of the highest museums located in the European Union (EU) at an altitude of 2,175m and located at the base of the Timmelsjoch mountain pass road in Austria.

Top Mountain Crosspoint motorcycle museum held one of the most extensive and valuable motorcycle collections in Austria and Europe as it was home to around 230 classes motorcycles.

The collection included motorcycle models from Brough Superior, Vincent, Matchless, Sunbeam, Zündapp and more for a total of 100 manufacturers’ motorcycles that were present at the museum when the fire broke out and destroyed everything.

According to the details, an employee of the museum was present at the scene and tried to put out the blaze but was forced out of the building due to the smoke.

There are currently no reports as to what caused the fire at the motorcycle museum but district investigators from Tyrol State Criminal Police Office (LKA) are on the scene trying the determine the exact cause of the blaze.

The Top Mountain Crosspoint motorcycle museum was reportedly closed at the time of the incident due to COVID-19 quarantine but was scheduled to be re-opened on 24th January 2021.
