ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways reservation system was reportedly hacked on January 26, 2021 causing inconvenience for hackers around the country.
The technical team at Pakistan Railways believes that the reservation system was hacked by Indians, according to a report by 24 News HD.
According to the details provided by the local media outlet, the hackers have wiped out important data from the reservation system and the technical team at Pakistan Railways is clueless to the root cause of the problem.
Cyber Security expert Rafay Baloch has that “Pakistan railway website has been defaced multiple times back in past and therefore the possibility of a state sponsored Cyber attack is highly likely as reportedly backend data has been wiped out and Pakistan Railway facing an estimated loss of 130m or more,”
Everyone trying to access the Pakistan Railways E-Ticketing system is getting an error on the mobile application as shown in the picture below.
Meanwhile, the website of Pakistan Railways currently states that the reservation system is “currently under maintenance and will be restored shortly.”
It is now being reported that Pakistan Railways is implementing steps, including a backup system to ensure something like this does not happen again.
