LAHORE: Veteran Pakistan actress Neelo Begum has passed away at the age of 80, according to her son and actor Shan Shahid.
Shan announced the news of her demise on Twitter on Saturday. “”It is with the saddest of heart I share the departure of my mother as she has gone to her Creator.” he wrote in his tweet.

Neelo Begum was reportedly suffering from cancer for some time, according to some sources.
The veteran Pakistani actress was born a catholic named Cynthia Alexander Fernandes on 30th June 1940 in Bhera Tehsil of Sargodha. She made her at the age of 16 in a major Hollywood movie, Bhowani Junction, starring alongside Ava Gardner and Stewart Granger.
The actress went on to join the Pakistani film industry working as an ‘extra’ and rose to playing lead roles because of her immense talent.
She later married film writer Riaz Shahid in 1965 after converting to Islam but was more famously known by her industry name Neelo Begum.
