PSL 6 2021 Postponed Indefinitely Due to COVID-19 Outbreak

The sixth edition of the Pakistani Super League (PSL 6 2021) has been postponed indefinitely with “immediate effect” due to a COVID-19 outbreak among those participating in the current tournament which started on February 20, 2021 at the National Stadium Karachi, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

“Following a meeting with the team owners and considering the health and wellbeing of all participants is paramount, the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to postpone the HBL Pakistan Super League 6 with immediate effect. The decision was made after seven cases were reported in the competition, which had started on 20 February,” said the cricket body in a press conference.

Furthermore, the PCB said that it will focus on “safe and secure passage” for all participants in the tournament while arranging repeat PCR tests and isolation facilities to the affected by the virus. The PCB has also offered the Sars-coronavirus vaccine doses to all participants of PSL 6 2021.

The decision to postpone PSL 6 2021 has been taken after three more players from two different teams tested positive for the COVID-19 infection, bringing the tally to seven. The affected players will undergo self-isolation for 10-days. Moreover, the three newer cases which have been detected were not part of the two matches (Karachi Kings vs Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators vs Multan Sultans) played yesterday.

Dan Christian withdraws from PSL 6 2021 after tournament postponed

Meanwhile, the Karachi Kings all rounder Dan Christian has decided to withdraw from the PSL 6 tournament following the emergence of seven COVID-19 cases and series postponement by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday.
