Publicity stunt in Dubai: 40 models arrested for posing naked

DUBAI: The Dubai Police have arrested 40 models for posing naked for a publicity stunt for an ‘Israeli porn site’. Photos taken show a group of naked women posing for a photo shoot on a balcony.

The models arrested are mostly from Ukraine and others from ex-soviet Union including Russia, Belarus, and Moldova. The Russian man who organized this photoshoot has been identified as Alexey Kontsov, 33, a Russian citizen.

The Dubai police announced that they have arrested a group of people who appeared in the indecent video on the charges of public debauchery. All the detainees now face up to six months in prison and fine of around thousand pounds as per UAE public decency laws which includes nudity and other lewd behavior.

The video of the naked models was shared on social media on Saturday. The footage showed dozens of women posing for the shoot at an apartment in the city’s upscale Marina neighborhood.

The arrested man told the police that he was in a nearby apartment and was filming the Russian models posing naked in the balcony. He also claims that he made a mistake sharing the video which is a crime in UAE.

The publicity stunt in Dubai has sparked a wave of fury in UAE, the models who took part in the naked photoshoot now face prison and a huge fine. The photoshoot is said to have been witnessed by people from neighbouring skyscrapers.

Some of those taking part in the naked video are understood to be visible in a group picture – captioned ‘Little Family’ – showing their faces.

Models who are identified

Two Ukrainian models named Yana and Diana are recognized from their Instagram accounts due to their distinctive tattoos. Both are in their mid-20s.

 Ukrainian model Dariya Khorunzhenko, 19, from Poltava.

Ukrainian models Ekaterina Kashenko, she is an eyebrow stylist and Sophia Tkachuk.

Russian online news outlet Mash reported that the photoshoot also included the daughter of a Russian businessman and former banker.

All the 40 models posing naked for the publicity stunt are said to be in their early to late 20s.

The videos and photos of dozens of naked women lined up in a balcony in broad day light were shared on social media on Saturday. The publicity stung by Russian models have sent a shock wave in the federation of seven Arab Sheikhdoms.

The Dubail Police have said the arrested have been referred to the Public Prosecution for further legal action.

The police statement also said Such unacceptable behaviors, do not reflect the values and ethics of Emirati society.’
