Faizabad interchange sealed ahead of 20 April protest

Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has sealed different entry and exit points into the capital city, including Faizabad Interchange and Murree Road ahead of the expected protest on 20 April 2021 planned by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).

There has been severe unrest across the country after TLP Chief Saad Hussain Rizvi was arrested in Lahore before the party’s 20 April 2021 deadline to expel the French ambassador as per the previous agreement reached between the federal government and Khadim Hussain Rizvi (Late).

On Sunday, the TLP workers clashed with police Yateem Khana Chowk where Jamia Masjid Rehmatul-Lil Alameen is located and it resulted in lives being lost on both sides.

Meanwhile, the Punjab police released a statement on Twitter which read that the DSP of Nawankot Police Station was kidnapped and tortured after the TLP workers attacked the policemen and rangers present at the Police Station with petrol bombs.

Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman also announced a nationwide shutter-down strike on Monday (19 April 2021) in support of TLP and this call was endorsed by the JUIF Chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman.

Faizabad interchange, Murree Road Sealed

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration has sealed several entry and exit points to and from the capital city, including the Faizabad Interchange and Murree Road ahead of the 20 April 2021 deadline given by TLP to expel the French ambassador.

“Traffic from Faizabad and 9th Avenue/IJP Chowk will be diverted to other alternative routes for tomorrow. Sorry for inconvenience.” tweeted DC Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat.

Furthermore, it is expected that mobile cellular services may be suspended in Islamabad to maintain law and order situation in the city and the notification is expected to be issued latter in this regard.
