KARACHI: The Sindh Government has announced the closure of all public and private schools, colleges and universities till 17 May 2021 due to rising number of coronavirus cases in across the province amid the third wave of infections.
The decision to close schools across Sindh was announced by Provincial Education Minister Saeed Ghani on Twitter after the meeting of provincial COVID-19 taskforce headed by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

“The classroom teaching and learning activities from class ECE to XIII in all the Public and Private Institutions under the administrative control of School Education & Literacy Department, Govt. of Sindh are hereby suspended with immediate effect till 17 May 2021.” the notification reads.
However, the notification mentions that institutions may call minimum staff to school premises for the purpose of online classes and handing over of homework assignments on a weekly basis.
Furthermore, there will be strict implementation of coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) for staff present at the school premises.
