Pakistan has reported 201 coronavirus deaths, the highest figure recorded in a single day since the pandemic first began last year.
Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases recorded during the last 24 hours is 5,292 out of 49,101 tests that were conducted as per the data released by the National Command and Operation Center.
This brings the COVID-19 death tally to 17,530 while the number of confirmed cases in the country have reached 810,231 with a positivity rate of 10.77 percent.
Pakistan issues new coronavirus restrictions
The federal government has announced new coronavirus restrcitions for upcoming Eid holidays from 8 till 16 May 2021.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior, there will be a complete ban inter-provincial and inter-city travel along with tourism during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.
Furthermore, there will be a complete closure of tourist resorts, public parks and hotels around tourist spots.
However, the locals of Gilgit-Baltistan will be allowed to travel back to their homes during the Eid holidays.
