Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Sri Lankan students in Pakistan

Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Sri Lankan students under Pak-Sri Lanka Higher Education Cooperation Programme. Under the scholarship announced by HEC 1000, Sri Lankan students will be able to pursue their undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degree programs in Engineering Science, Basic and Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. The course spreads for the next five years. The Sri Lankan students can study in Pakistan and enroll in the top universities of the country.

The last date for submission of Applications is June 15, 2021

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

The Scholarship offers:

• The full tuition fee of the Programme for study in Pakistani universities,
• Accommodation allowance,
• Study allowance,
• Books allowance, and
• One-time return air ticket. 

Eligibility Criteria for Allama Iqbal Scholarships for Sri Lankan students

* Candidates must provide Equivalence Certificate from IBCC and HEC, after they are awarded with Allama Iqbal Scholarship. 

Formula GCE A Level Grade

According to IBCC, following formula is applicable on Sri Lankan students:

HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR PERCENTAGE?

1. Use the above table as a reference to get Pak Equivalent Marks
2. Add these marks
3. Divide by the number of subjects you passed
4. The answer will be your percentage

EXAMPLE 1

1. If you have three grades A, B, and C.
2. Your Pak Equivalent Marks will be 85, 70 and 57 respectively.
3. Add these marks 85 + 70 + 57 = 212
4. Divide by a number of subjects i.e. three. 212/3 = 70.66
5. Your percentage marks will be 70.66

EXAMPLE 2

1. If you have three grades A, A, and B.
2. Your Pak Equivalent Marks will be 85, 85 and 70 respectively.
3. Add these marks 85 + 85 + 70 = 240
4. Divide by a number of subjects i.e. three. 240/3 = 80.00
5. Your percentage marks will be 80.00

Terms and Conditions

1. Only Srilankan citizens are eligible for the award of scholarship. Dual nationals are not eligible.
2. The age limit for BS programs is 17-22 years and the maximum age limit for graduate and doctoral programs is 35 years.  
3. The candidate must have acquired the requisite qualification on or before the last date of application submission.
4. The candidate will be required to serve Sri Lanka after completion of the education in Pakistan.
5. Selection will be made purely on a merit basis after a physical examination of the documents provided by the applicant.
6. Placement of students will be solely at HEC discretion
7. The medium of instruction will be English
8. A merit list will be prepared on the basis of information provided by the applicant. In case of any misinformation/misrepresentation, the scholarship will be terminated at any stage

• An application form to be filled online at Apply Online
• All registered candidates appear in scholarship test organized by HEC in collaboration with the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo and the Sri Lankan Ministry of Higher Education
• Shortlisted candidates appear in an interview to be held at Pakistan High Commission, Colombo in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Higher Education.

1. Modus Operandi for Raising a query
   a. All of the queries sent to the support email address should be properly addressed with a
   subject in the email.
   b. Please share your identification number (passport or National Identity Card Number)
   and a screenshot of the error in your email.
   c. Please use 1 email thread for correspondence
   d. We will get back to you in 24 hours’ time, if not then please send us a reminder over the
   same thread.
   e. Please don’t rely on computer-generated emails.
2. If you are getting Service Maintenance Page
   This happens when we are doing some deployment, normally we place a maintenance
   page, but if you are already logged in you may experience an error. Deployment takes
   around 1 hour and is done in non-working hours. If you are continuously getting the
   maintenance page message for an hour, please clear your browser cache or change your
   browser.
3. If you are getting error 500 or unauthorized access error message
   Please use the link eportal.hec.gov.pk. The extra part after .pk/… is creating the issue for
   you. If the issue persists, please clear your browser cache or change your browser.
4. If you have forgotten the password or don’t have access to your primary email on which the
   verification code is being sent
   Please send us an email at info.paksl@hec.gov.pk with a copy of your original CNIC/ID
   and we will reset your email.
5. “Ask the System Administrator” error message
   This is an idle session time-out message. This means that the session was left idle for 20
   Minutes or more. Please refresh your browser and log in again.
6. Date Errors in entering the qualification level
   Your degrees should be added in chronological order.
7. File size upload error
   The maximum file size which may be uploaded is 500Kb.
8. Upload error, Error Retrieving documents, Document creation error, contact server
   administrator error
   Please wait for 15 minutes before retrying. If the problem persists please clear your
   browser cache or change your browser. If the issue persists for more than 1 hour; please
   drop us an email at info.paksl@hec.gov.pk
9. I am unable to download the application form print. What should I do?
   Please ensure that the pop-up blocker of your browser is disabled.
10. I am getting an error “The maximum age criteria does not meet” What should I do?
    Please read the given instructions in the advertisement, the age criteria is mentioned over
    there.
11. Eligibility Criteria
    a. The applicant should be a Sri Lankan National.
    b. The applicant must have uploaded his profile picture in the system
    c The applicant must have a valid email address
    d. Applicant should have entered his valid Sri Lankan Passport or Sri Lankan Identification Number
    details in his profile
12. Minimum Qualification
    a. For BS Engineering, the applicant should have 12 years of Education (GCE, A/levels/F.Sc) in
    Pre-engineering with at least 65% marks
    b. For BS Medicine, the applicant should have 12 years of Education (GCE, A/levels/F.Sc) in Premedical with at least 65% marks
    c. For Other BS Programs, the applicant should have 12 years of Education (GCE, Alevels/F.Sc/F.A) with at least 60% marks
    d. For Masters (MS), the applicant should have 16 years of Education (BS/M.Sc or equivalent) in
    relevant subject with at least 60% marks at graduate level
    e. For Doctoral (PhD), the applicant should have 18 years of Education (MS/MPhil. or
    equivalent) in relevant subject with at least 3.00/4.00 CGPA. A research thesis at the MS level
    is required.
13. Applicant age should be:
    a. 22 years on scholarship closing date for Bachelors (BS)
    b. 35 years on scholarship closing date for Master(MS) or Doctoral (Ph.D.)
14. How do I submit my application?
    Submit button is at the end of the application form. Please make sure that you hit this
    button otherwise your application will not be considered.
15. How to check the status of an application?
    The status of the application can be seen on the dashboard screen.
