The bold and beautiful ‘West side story’ star Rachel Zegler is all set for a feature film debut, and has signed up for the titular character in the highly anticipated 1937’s ‘Snow White and the seven dwarves remake.’
Disney is geared up to mark the return of its classic animation ‘Snow White.’ And, for the purpose, the young and emerging Rachel Zegler, who possesses the credits for forthcoming Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and Shazam Fury of the Gods, has been booked in as the next Disney princess.
“Snow White and the Seven Dwarves,” based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale, was released in 1937 and came out as Disney’s first animated feature film. Since then, the story of a little princess whose wicked stepmother attempts to poison her with a tempting apple, has been adapted several times, including 2012’s “Mirror Mirror” as well as Universal’s darker take “Snow White and the Huntsman” starring Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart. And, continuing the legacy of the blue and yellow attired Princess, Disney is bringing back the live action adaptation of the ‘Snow White,’ with Rachel Zegler as the central royalty.

Disney’s Snow White remake
The live-action Disney’s Snow White remake was announced back in 2016. But since then, word on the project has been mostly quiet. However, as per recent sources, the long halted project is finally taking up again.
Legendary Marc Webb, the director behind ‘500 Days of summer’ and The Amazing Spider-Man, will direct the currently untitled movie. Meanwhile, Marc Platt is serving as a producer, with Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the songwriting duo behind tunes from “La La Land,” “The Greatest Showman” and “Dear Evan Hansen,” set to write new music for the film. The enduring songs from the original cartoon film include “Heigh-Ho,” “Someday My Prince Will Come” and “Whistle While You Work.”
Furthermore, talking about the aspiring Rachel Zegler as his central lady, director Webb stated,
“Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale.”
The Disney’s Snow White remake is not expected anytime soon. However, the movie will commence production in 2022.
