Pakistani weightlifter Talha Talib is being praised for his impressive performance at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 despite lack of resources as the 21-year-old finished fifth in the 67kg category with an overall impressive lifting of 320kg of weight.
It is pertinent to mention that Talha Talib is the first weightlifter in 46 years to represent Pakistan at the Tokyo Olympics and that too without a proper coach.
Even though the young weightlifter fell 2kg too short of winning an Olympic media, he is being praised as a national hero on social media for the effort he put into the competition.
The athlete represented Pakistan in the 67kg weightlifting competition at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, where he lifted 150kg in snatch and 170kg in clean and jerk for a total of 320kg.
Meanwhile, the fourth-placed participant from South Korea lifted 321kg, while Marko Zanni of Italy won the bronze medal with a total lift of 322kg. The silver medal was won by Colombian Luis Javier Mosquera with total lifted weight of 331kg, while Chinese Chen Lijun won gold medal with total lift of 332kg.
Talha Talib is one of 10 athletes from Pakistan to take part in the Tokyo Olympics 2020 and people on social media have been raising concerns over the performance of the authorities, including the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).
