WEATHER UPDATE: Heavy Rain Expected in KP, PDMA Issues Flood Warning

WEATHER UPDATE: Heavy rain and thundershowers are expected in upper and central parts of the country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as strong monsoon currents continue to penetrate the region. The PDMA has also issued a flood warning in the area together with a travel advisory for tourist planning on visiting Northern areas.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a notification to all the Deputy Commissioners of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa providing them with a weather update regarding the upcoming rain and thundershowers expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the notification issued by the PDMA:

Rain-wind-thundershower (with isolated heavy fall) is expected in Kohistan, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Dir, Chitral, Peshawar, Kohat, Tank and Karak with occasional gaps from Monday to Friday.
Rain-wind-thundershower is expected in Bannu and D.I. Khan from Tuesday to Thursday.

The possible impacts of the weather include:

Heavy rains may generate flash flooding in local/barsati nullahs of Shangla, Buner, Batgram, Mansehra, Balakot, Abboattabad, Swat, Kohistan, Mardan, Charsadda and Kohat from Monday to Thursday.
Urban Flooding in Peshawar.
Heavy downpour may trigger landslides in the venerable areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from Monday to Thursday.

If you are planning on making any move towards the region, please carefully read the advisory issued by the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) for the tourists planning to visit Northern areas this week and make sure to fuel up your tanks before entering in the valley of the unknown as petrol is reportedly being sold for Rs. 700 in the area due to shortage.

Petroleum Oil Lubricant (POL) shortage still persistent but 3 more stations in Kalam region have been refilled whereas the District Administration has directed to advice tourists to fill their fuel tanks before entering in the valley.
One dumper truck which met an accident is being removed from the road with the help of State machinery via Assistant Commissioner Mingora Mr Shuazab and Assistant Commissioner Bahrain Mr Hidayat.
