The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has decided only passengers who have been fully vaccinated can use air travel starting 10 September 2021 by providing their complete COVID-19 vaccination certificate.
The centre added that partial vaccination certificates would become invalid after 10 September 2021 and all provinces have been informed regarding this decision.
Furthermore, the NCOC has taken a major decision to speed up the vaccination process in the country by reducing the interval between the first and second dose of all types of COVID-19 vaccines. This decision was made in consultation with the Ministry of Health and other medical experts, it added.
It is pertinent to mention that in July, the NCOC declared that COVID-19 vaccination certificates (including partial) would be mandatory for air travel but the centre has now taken the decision to restrict domestic air travel to passengers with complete COVID-19 vaccination certificates (those who have received two doses).
Prior to this decision, the NCOC has also banned vaccinated passengers from travelling via train starting 1 October 2021 in order to control the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
