KARACHI: Major power breakdown was reported in Karachi on Wednesday due to the tripping on an Extra High Tension (EHT) Transmission Line in Jamshoro. This caused electricity outage across Karachi as circuits of K-Electric (KE) lost connection with the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC).
According to the details, there were reports of power breakdown in several areas of Karachi on Wednesday, including Defence, Clifton, MA Jinnah Road, Malir and Gulshan to name a few of them. K-Electric took to its official Twitter handle and acknowledged receiving reports of electricity outage in parts of Karachi.
“We are receiving reports of interruption in power supply from some parts of the city. We are actively monitoring the situation and will keep updating this space.” said K-Electric on Twitter.

In another tweet, K-Electric updated about the power breakdown in Karachi. “Connection to the national grid has also been restored.” it stated. “All teams are on high alert and working on the restoration process.”

K-Electric later provided an update stating that power had been restored from 68 grid stations. “Electricity restored in different areas of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Federal B Area, North Karachi.” it stated while also mentioning restoration of power in Surjani, Malir, Baldia, D-Liaqatabad, Korangi, North Nazimabad, Gizri and DHA areas in a follow up tweet.
