The provincial government in Sindh has announced a public holiday on 22 September 2021 to mark the 278th Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai, said a notification issued by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department.
“The Government of Sindh hereby declare 14th Safar 1443 (A.H), 22nd September, 2021 (Wednesday) as a Public Holiday throughout the Province of Sindh on the occasion of 278th Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai (R.A) for all offices, autonomous, semi autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils under the administration control of Government of Sindh, except essential services and offices engaged in COVID-19 emergency.” said the notification.
The Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai begins every year on 14th Safar (2nd month of Hijra calendar) and lasts for three days during which poetry marathons, literature conferences and other activities are carried out.
The Sindh Government announces a public holiday every year on the occasion of Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai as thousands of his devotees turn up to pay their respects to the great Sufi saint and poet of Sindh.
