The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has made a proposal to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to reschedule the New Zealand Tour of Pakistan (Pak vs NZ) that was cancelled over security concerns because of India making up fake threats online to stop the return of International Cricket to Pakistan.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) Chief Executive David White is currently under talks with his counterpart at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and both parties are open to reschedule the return of New Zealand Tour before the end of the current future tours programme cycle in 2023.
“The PCB may put forward its terms before the NZC by choosing the month of November in 2022 for the rescheduling of the recently postponed series.” reported Geo News while quoting the NZC Chief Executive.
However, the Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination, Raza Rabbani, suggested the PCB chief to turn down New Zealand’s tour of Pakistan. “What if we do not allow the New Zealand tour?” asked Rabbani. He advised the PCB not to accept the tour as a sign of protest.
However, Ramiz Raja said that if New Zealand were ready to play according to Pakistan’s conditions, “then we should have no problem”. He also informed the committee that Pakistan’s cricket affairs were managed through 50 per cent funding from the International Cricket Council (ICC), while 90pc of the ICC funding was provided by India.
The final announcement regarding the rescheduling of the New Zealand Tour of Pakistan will be made next week.
