The Government of Sindh has announced a public holiday on 12th Rabi ul Awal (Eid Milad un Nabi), which is falling on 19 October 2021.
The moon for the holy month of Rabi ul Awal, which is the third month in the Islamic calendar, was sighted on 7 October 2021. Muslims around the world celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), which is known locally as Eid Milad un Nabi, on the 12th of Rabi ul Awal.

“The Government of Sindh declares 12th Rabi-ul-Awal 1443 (A.H) on 19th October, 2021 (Tuesday) as a Public Holiday throughout the Province of Sindh on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (S.A.W.W) for all offices, Autonomous, Semi-Autonomous bodies, Corporations and Local Councils under Administrative Control of Government of Sindh,” said the notification issued by the Government of Sindh’s Services, General Administration and Coordination Department.
Furthermore, the notification mentions that the public holiday does not apply to essential services and offices engaged in COVID-19 emergency.
It is pertinent to mention that Government of Sindh also issued a notification imposing a ban on pillion riding in all cities across the province on October 19 (12th Rabi ul Awal) to maintain security. However, the notification mentioned that the ban won’t apply to women, children below the age of 12 years, senior citizens, personnel of law enforcement agencies/security agencies in uniform, employees of essential services, and journalists subject to showing their press card/service card.
