SSGC suspends Gas supply to CNG sector for two and a half months

KARACHI: The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) announced on Monday, November 29 that it is planning to suspend the gas supply to the compressed natural gas (CNG) sectors and captive power plants starting from December 1.

The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) on Monday said that all compressed natural gas (CNG) stations across Sindh will be shut down for two-and-a-half months due to a shortage of natural gas in the province.

The decision came after the Gas shortage, shortfall of 100 million cubic feet per day, (mmcfd) at present and the availability of Gas in its system has dropped significantly.

SSGC wants to supply interrupted supply to domestic and commercial customers, diverting it to the households with immediate effect.

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations and captive power plants will remain closed for two and half months in the winter season, SSGC will discontinue the supply.

SSGC regrets the inconvenience which may be caused to CNG users during the notified period.

All CNG stations will remain closed for a two and a half months period of time completely effective from December 1, 2021.

The Gas shortage has become a norm in Pakistan, since PTI government took the office, always forgetting to import LNG on time for the winter season in which the demand is higher than usual.
