The Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Shafqat Mehmood, is expected to decide the final dates for Winter Vacations in Pakistan today (16 December 2021) after the meeting of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) remained inconclusive.
According to Dawn, Shafqat Mehmood will make the final decision regarding the winter vacations in Pakistan after consulting the head of the NCOC, Asad Umar, and the Assistant to Prime Minister on Health, Dr Faisal Sultan.
It is pertinent to mention that meeting of the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference was held on Tuesday and it was mutually agreed that winter holidays in Pakistan should take place from 25 December 2021 to 4 January 2021, however, it was also decided that the final decision on the winter holidays in Pakistan will be made by at the meeting of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC).
“Federal and provincial secretaries met today.” said Shafqat Mehmood on Twitter. “The agreed proposal was that winter holidays should be from Dec 25 to Jan 4.” he continued, adding that final notifications will be issued by the concerned governments.

However, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) only recommended moving the winter vacations in Pakistan to mid of January 2022 but did not give a final date for the winter holidays in the country.
Winter Vacations in Sindh
It is pertinent to mention that Sindh has already announced winter holidays from 20 December 2021 to 3 January 2022 with normal academic activities to resume from 3 January 2022.

Winter Vacations in Punjab
It is pertinent to mention that a fake notification has been circulating on social media regarding winter vacations Punjab from 21 December 2021 to 1 January 2022, however, the provincial government is yet to issue a final notification in this regard.
The conflict regarding the decision of the winter holidays in Pakistan has resulted in confusion amongst students who have taken to social media demanding early vacations from the education ministry.
