At least 14 people killed and 12 were injured on Saturday in Karachi when a blast at Paracha Chowk tore through a the premises of HBL Bank.
According to the details, the rescue officials have recovered 14 bodies but the death toll may climb higher as rescue operation is underway. Meanwhile, the injured have been shifted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. PTI MNA and Fixit founder Alamgir Khan’s Father was amongst those who died in the explosion.
The eye witnesses in the area are claiming that many people are still buried underneath the debris of the building, while two excavators have been called to the site to remove the debris and rescue the trapped people.
A Bomb Disposal Unit (BDU) has arrived at the scene of the blast in Karachi, while the Police and Rangers officials have cordoned off the area. The BDU have their investigation to find out the cause of the blast and their initial report says that the explosion was caused by a build-up of gas in the sewerage line.
The building where HBL was operating was built on a nullah and the build up of gasses caused a several explosion that tore through the bank’s premises and damaged nearby buildings as well, killing most of the customers and staff present inside. However, the BDS officials said that the counter-terrorism department was also probing the Karachi Blast.

Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah Orders Inquiry
The Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has ordered an inquiry into the Karachi Blast which took place at Paracha Chowk on Saturday. The CM has directed to submit a report of the findings, a Spokesperson of the Chief Minister confirmed.
CM Murad Ali Shah also ordered the secretary of health to provide the necessary facilities to the injured at the Civil Hospital in Karachi.
