Apple Has Removed Noise Cancellation From iPhone 13 Series

Apple has reportedly removed the “Noise Cancellation” accessibility feature in the iPhone 13 series, 9to5Mac reported, while sharing a screenshot of a conversation their user had with Apple Support regarding the missing feature. The “Noise Cancellation” feature which was previously available in the iPhone helped to reduce the ambient noise on phone calls when you are held the the phone to your ear, making the conversation easier to hear.

However, the Cupertino-based tech giant has permanently removed the Noise Cancellation from the iPhone 13 series. “Phone Noise Cancellation is not available on iPhone 13 models, which is why you do not see this option in [the Accessibility] settings,” said Apple Support to a 9to5Mac user. The user also asked the support team for confirmation upon which he was told that the feature is “not supported.”

The feature is still available with iOS 15 on past iPhone models, but it is nowhere to be found on the iPhone 13 series. The Noise Cancellation feature made use of the iPhone’s camera microphone to detect and remove ambient noise around a person, so you could easily hear the other person on a phone or FaceTime call – in other words, it was a important feature for most people looking to make a conversation easier while on the go.

It bears mentioning that the issue would only affect a person using the smartphone by itself without any earphones, like the Apple AirPods, which have their own built-in noise cancellation. However, it would affect what others hear and for that, Apple has introduced the Voice Isolation feature in the iOS 15.

Apple is yet to confirm whether the Noise Cancellation has been permanently removed from the iPhone 13 series or it is a bug which may be rectified soon. The company itself has not made any announcement regarding the matter and the confirmation from 9to5Mac only comes from an indirect source.
