Punjab Issues Clarification on New School Dress Code

The Punjab Government has only made the new school dress code mandatory for students while learning the Holy Quran, clarified Focal Person to Chief Minister (CM) Punjab on Digital Media, Azhar Mashwani.

Mashwani issued a clarification regarding the new school dress code implemented by Punjab Government for all public and private educational institutes in the province. “The news of making hats /scarfs compulsory for children in schools is wrong.” said Mashwani on Twitter.

“Quran recitation has been made mandatory for Muslim children in primary schools.” wrote Mashwani, adding that hats and head scarfs will only be part of the uniform for this period, which means the new school dress code only applies to the periods when children will be learning the Holy Quran.

In related news, the Punjab Government has decided to keep schools open in the province under directions of the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), however, the students in Lahore who under the age of 12 years will attend classes in a staggered manner.

However, the Punjab Education Minister clarified that classes 7 through 12 will remain on the previous schedule as children of these classes being above 12 years of age can get COVID-19 vaccination.
