The Official Twitter account of the Punjab Police (@OffcialDPRPP) was hacked, a representative of the Punjab Police confirmed on Friday.
According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, the Twitter account was hacked on Friday morning and a complaint has been registered with the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The hacker posted several hundred Tweets from the Twitter account in a very short span of time and also changed the name of the Punjab Police Twitter account to “Pʋmp”.
The spokesperson also updated everyone on Twitter regarding the incident. “Punjab Police’s official account DDPROfficial has been hacked on social media.” said the Tweet by the Punjab Police spokesperson. “Social media users and followers are requested to use Punjab Police updates till the official account is restored.”

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan Embassy Serbia’s Twitter account was also hacked on 3 December 2021 and posted several Tweets against the incumbent PTI Government.
