PSL 7: Islamabad United vs Lahore Qalandars – Match 12 Highlights

Pakistan Super League Seventh Edition (PSL 7 2022) – Match 12 Highlights – Islamabad United vs Lahore Qalandars (IU vs LQ) at Karachi National Stadium – Lahore Qalandars won by 8 runs.

Islamabad United won the toss and elected to bowl first and allowed Lahore Qalandars to set a target of 175 to win the match in the second innings. The score would have been much higher if Shadab Khan, Mubasir Khan, and Waqas Maqsood did not get the team back into the game. Shadab Khan and Waqas Maqsood managed to take four wickets each for just 20 and 35 runs, respectively.

Lahore Qalandars got off to an wonderful start with Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique scoring 38 and 44 runs, respectively. However, the batters who followed failed to keep up with Shadab Khan and Mubasir Khan’s bowling, including Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Hafeez, and Phil Salt, who were all sent packing back to the pavilion after scoring 1, 5 and 2 runs, respectively.

Harry Brook and David Wiese got Lahore Qalandars back into the game by scoring 37 and 20 runs off 26 and 14 balls, respectively. This was a much needed score after the quick fall of several wickets without any significant score. Rashid Khan who came in towards the end of the innings did manage another 15 runs, while Shaheen Shah Afridi added a final 4 to the total allowing Lahore Qalandars to set a target of 175 for Islamabad United.

Islamabad United had a rough start to their batting with the openers Paul Stirling and Alex Hales being sent back to the pavilion after scoring only 14 and 11 runs off 10 and 8 balls, respectively. However, Colin Munro and Shadab Khan managed to get the team back into the game with scores of 60 and 52 off 45 and 32 balls, respectively. However, Islamabad United failed to achieve the target of 175 set by Lahore Qalandars.

Lahore Qalandars won by 8 runs.
