The incident in Mian Channu has caused widespread outrage after man was brutally tortured to death by an enraged mob over blasphemy allegations.
According to the details, the man was dragged by the mob as he exited the police station and lynched after he was accused of burning pages of the Holy Quran inside a local mosque.
The incident has caused outrage on social media over people taking the law into their own hands, while there are also people who support the act of lynching the man for blasphemy.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken notice of the incident in Mian Channu and asked Inspector General of Punjab Police, Rao Sardar Ali Khan regarding the action taken against the perpetrators.
“We have zero tolerance for anyone taking the law into their own hands & mob lynchings will be dealt with full severity of the law.” said the premier on Twitter, adding that action will be taken against the people involved as well as the police, who failed in their duty to protect the man from lynching.

Meanwhile, the police have taken custody of 62 people involved in the Mian Channu lynching, including the prime accused along with registering a case under terrorism charges against more than 300 suspects.
This is not the first incident of lynching in the country over blasphemy charges and people taking law into their own hands. There was a similar incident in Sialkot, where a Sri Lankan national was brutally lynched over blasphemy charges.
