Netflix Raises Prices in UK and Ireland

Netflix has increased its subscription prices for the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland on Thursday in a bid to invest more into production of its original shows and movies.

According to the details, Netflix has increased the prices of its popular standard plan in the UK by £1 ($1.31) to £10.99 ($14.46) and by €2 ($2.20) to €14.99 ($16.54) in Ireland. Meanwhile, its lowest level of service, the basic package, has increased from £1 ($1.31) to £6.99 ($9.19) in the UK and by €1 ($1.10) to €8.99 ($9.92) in Ireland.

It is pertinent to mention that Netflix has increased the subscription prices of its basic package for the first time in 10 years in the UK and the first time in eight years in Ireland. Moreover, the streamer has increased the prices of its premium plan as well with a hike of £2 ($2.63) in the UK and €2 ($2.20) in Ireland.

The increased Netflix subscription prices will come into effect immediately to all new members, while existing members will be notified by Netflix 30 days before they come into effect for the respective billing cycles.

“Our updated prices reflect the investment we have made in our service and catalog, and will allow us to continue making the series, documentaries and films our members love as well as investing in talent and the creative industry,” said a spokesperson from Netflix.
