WhatsApp has reportedly released its much anticipated message reactions for Android users on the beta version of the encrypted messenger. The new feature allows users to select from six reactions. According to a report by WABetaInfo, a service that tracks new features on the encrypted messenger, the ability to react to WhatsApp messages is limited to select users but everyone should be able to see the emoji reactions.
It bears mentioning that emoji reactions have been available on the Meta-owned platforms like Instagram and Messenger, while they have also been part of other messaging services like Discord, Slack, and Telegram. The message reactions are finally coming to WhatsApp, but the company has not confirmed an official date regarding when the feature will be rolled out for all users.
According to the details, WhatsApp is rolling out emoji message reactions feature to Android users on WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.22.8.3. The new feature is only available for select beta testers, but everyone should be able to see the reactions to messages, as per the report.
There are six emoji reactions available for WhatsApp messages, including Like, Love, Laugh, Surprised, Sad, and Thanks. Furthermore, there is no information regarding whether users will be able to customize or change emojis in message reactions.
WABetaInfo Tweeted that since the message reactions notification setting was available on all three platforms – Android, iOS, and Desktop – the feature may be rolled out officially to WhatsApp on all three mentioned platforms very soon. However, there is no official confirmation by the company yet regarding the feature.

It is pertinent to mention that message reactions were spotted on WhatsApp Desktop Beta 2.2208.1 earlier but the feature was not available to public beta testers. The new feature is titled React to Message and is available in the drop-down message menu. WhatsApp has been testing adding a shortcut to message reactions next to messages on the desktop app, which would allow users to quickly react to messages.
