Apple is reportedly gearing up to launch a subscription service for the iPhone and other hardware products to allow customers a new way to make purchases. According to the details, the users will be paying a fixed subscription fee each month and get an iPhone with a free upgrade to a newer model when it comes out.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman was first to report on the development and expects the new subscription service to start by end of the year or early 2023 with iPhones and eventually move to other products being offered by Apple, including iPads, MacBooks, and the Apple Watch.
According to the details, the subscription service for the iPhone or other Apple Products appears to be different from the current installment plans being offered by the company and carriers as it would be a set fee each month and not the cost of the phone divided by 12, 24 or 36 months like the installment plans.

The subscription service for the iPhone will be tied to the users’ current Apple ID accounts and may also bundle free Apple Care and even Apple One services, which include Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud+, Apple News+, and Apple Fitness+.
However, the company is yet to make an official announcement in this regard and no price has been mentioned for the iPhone subscription service, but speculations range from $20 to $40 per month. It remains to be seen how subscription cancellations will affect the associated end costs for users.
It is pertinent to mention that it isn’t an entirely new concept by Apple to offer an iPhone subscription service as Google already operates its Pixel Pass Program in the US, which allows you to choose between a Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro bundled with Google’s own services for $45 to $55 a month.
