The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) in Karachi has suspended one of the students involved in the leaked video of an alleged LGBT party on the campus that went viral on social media. The student has been suspended for a year, while another student’s entry of the premises of the varsity has been revoked.
According to a statement issued by IBA Karachi, the varsity’s Student Conduct Committee ‘investigated’ the matter related to the leaked video on the directives of the Executive Director Akbar Zaidi. The incident came to light when a leaked video went viral showing students holding an alleged LGBT party at IBA Karachi Campus, which ended up causing mass outrage on social media.
“Following the findings of the committee, one of the students involved in the matter has been suspended for one year and the second student has been barred from entering the IBA premises revoking campus access, revoking hostel access, and access to any other institutional facilities and services for the rest of the academic year,” said the statement by the varsity on the matter.
The statement said that the university condemns the “activity which is against the norms, ethics, rules, and regulations” of the institute, adding that it will “take appropriate action whenever IBA’s Code of Conduct is breached.” Furthermore, the Executive Director has instructed the management to ensure strict adherence to the student Code of Conduct.
Moreover, IBA Karachi has put all social and musical events on hold at the premises until further notice, while the Zaidi, the Executive Director, has called a meeting of the Board of Governors to apprise the members on the developments of the matter.
