President Dr Arif Alvi has dissolved the National Assembly on the proposal of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The development came after National Assembly (NA) Deputy Commissioner Qasim Suri rejected the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, calling it unconstitutional.
The President accorded his approval to the Prime Minister’s advice to dissolve the National Assembly “under the Article 58 (1) read with Article 48 (1) of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.” said President Secretariat Press Wing in a press release.

Prime Minister Imran Khan briefly addressed the nation shortly after the National Assembly Session that was set to vote on the no-confidence motion against him was adjourned by the Deputy Speaker, who deemed the no-trust vote “unconstitutional.”
“The NA speaker has rejected the move intended at changing the regime and I congratulate the entire nation on it.” said Prime Minister Imran Khan. “Pakistan came into existence on 27th Ramzan, and this nation will not let such a conspiracy get successful.” he added.
