Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday has nominated the former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed as the Caretaker Prime Minister. The announcement was made by PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, who said the decision was taken after approval of the PTI’s Core Committee.
“In response to the President’s letter, after consultation and approval from the PTI Corps Committee, Prime Minister Imran Khan has nominated former Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed for the post of caretaker Prime Minister.” said Fawad Chaudhry on Twitter.

The nomination follows a written letter by the President of Pakistan, Dr Arif Alvi, to the Prime Minister Imran Khan and Opposition Leader in the outgoing National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif, to propose names for a caretaker Prime Minister under Article 224-A(1) of the Constitution.
The letter came a day after National Assembly (NA) Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri disallowed the no-trust vote against Prime Minister Imran khan, following which, the President dissolved the National Assembly on the Prime Minister’s advice.

In response to the letter, the Prime Minister has nominated the former Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed as the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The caretaker Prime Minister will be appointed by the President after consultation with the Prime Minister and Opposition Leader in the outgoing National Assembly under Article 224-A(1) of the Constitution of Pakistan.
