The newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Shehbaz Sharif, has announced that Ehsaas Kafalat Program would be renamed to the original Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).
The PTI Government had changed the name of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) to Ehsaas Kafalat Program under the banner of Ehsaas Programmes, which included several other social welfare initiatives introduced during PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s tenure.
However, the newly elected Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has announced that original name of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) would be restored instead of the new Ehsaas Kafalat Program, which provides stipend of Rs. 14,000 to deserving beneficiaries.
It bears mentioning that Ehsaas Program under the leadership of Dr Sania Nishtar had introduced several changes to the old BISP system as well as increase the stipend provided to beneficiaries, including the introduction of a biometric payment system.
The Ehsaas Kafalat Program was revamped and made completely transparent to avoid corruption and many of the employees of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) were removed from the system to make way for new beneficiaries.
However, the newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says that Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) would improved even further beyond the scope current initiative, which falls under the banner of Ehsaas Program.
